This is the place
to get caught up to speed on some of the hot stuff I got going on.
“AMERICAN
SPLENDOR” (a movie I’m in) is now available on DVD &
video! That’s right – even Blockbuster has it! If you haven’t
heard of it – it was named BEST MOVIE OF THE YEAR by the National
Society of Film Critics, The Los Angeles Film Critics, & Newsweek
magazine. I have a big role in it playing supernerd “Toby Radloff”.
It is - no bullshit - the best reviewed movie of 2003. It also won Sundance.
I was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for the Independent Spirit
Awards for my performance in it. That’s right – somebody
actually nominated me for an award.
“BEST
WEEK EVER” is a new tv show on VH1 that airs every Friday
night & gets repeated to shit on Saturday and Sunday (check VH1.com
for details). I’m often on the show – not always –
but often. (I don’t even know when I’m going to be on).
The show’s kind of like “I Love the 80’s” –
except it’s about last week. So if you’re nostalgic for
last week – this show’s for you.
COMEDY CENTRAL – This Memorial Day Weekend I’ll be “hosting”
Comedy Central – basically that means – I did a lot of promo
spots (funny commercials/vignettes/sketches/skits – whatever you
want to call them) for the channel that will air between their programs
all weekend.
MORE MOVIES
Just finished shooting a movie called “DUANE HOPWOOD” in
Atlantic City with David Schwimmer - and also Janeane Garofalo…and
get this…Dick Cavett! I have a big part in this one. It’s
an independent and it’s comedy and drama – mostly drama
– but my part is mostly comedy. And the director of it, Matt Mulhern,
co-starred in one of my favorite movies “Extreme Prejudice”
– which is a movie about Nick Nolte being pissed off at everyone
and then trying to kill everyone – but out trying to kill him
are Michael Ironside, Powers Boothe, William Forthsythe, and Matt Mulhern!
But there are no machine guns in “Duane Hopwood”. Making
the movie was a lot of fun. On my off days in Atlantic City, I won 10
million dollars playing craps, won a cheesesteak eating competition,
opened up a tattoo shop, and got married 5 times. I look forward to
seeing the movie & I’ll let you know when it opens.
In June I’ll be in the Atlanta, Georgia area doing an independent
feature called “The Unseen”.
I’ve already shot these movies:
• SURVIVING CHRISTMAS – I have a funny scene with Ben Affleck
& Christina Applegate in this movie.
• PIZZA – I play a door guy in this one.
• BAD MEAT – I play a fix-it guy in this one.
STAND-UP
This weekend – May 13, 14, & 15 I’ll be at The Laugh
Factory in L.A. Thurs 8pm, Fri.10pm, Sat 8pm shows. Also Thurs May 13
I’ll be at the Improv in L.A.
May 21 - I”ll be performing at Carleton College which is near
Minneapolis, MN
On off days from “The Unseen” in June, I’ll be doing
stand-up at some local comedy clubs in Atlanta.
In July I will get back to New York City and will be lots of stand-up
shows.
In July I will also be doing some shows in the Maryland/DC/Virginia
area.
RETARDED – Look out for repeats of an episode of “CURB
YOUR ENTHUSIASM” on HBO where I play a mentally challenged
guy named Donald. I wash Larry David’s car and really get him
pissed. It’s the 3rd episode of the new season (technically it’s
called “The Blind Date” episode 33 season 4).
MORE HOT STUFF
Critical hit & neilson ratings bonanza made for television motion
picture event “SPRING BREAK LAWYER” still available on VHS.
Sorry – DVD still not available. Just Announced: “SPRING
BREAK LAWYER” official selection 2004 Cannes Film Festival. This
is the first time that a film that was made for TV & that has already
aired on TV and is available on VHS is been accepted to the Cannes Film
Festival.
Judah appeared both “Along Came Polly” & “Starsky
& Hutch” for about 10 seconds (combined). My appearances were
so brief in these movies – I don’t even think the directors
realize I was in them.
The Dave Matthews Band music video “Everyday” which I star
in as “THE HUG GUY” still plays sometimes on TV. |
